Hands on CONTROLLER required for well-established and successful
family INVESTMENT company located DOWNTOWN. Several months of TRAINING offered by seasoned retiring Controller. WORK/LIFE balance offered. In OFFICE requirement during the first 3-6 months to facilitate onboarding.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Oversee full cycle accounting for 20+ entities (corporations, LP’s, partnerships and family trusts)
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Liaise with external advisors to ensure timely filing of Canadian and US tax returns
Refine month end and quarter end procedures
Support quarterly financial planning and analysis
Assist with year-end tax information preparation and liaise with external accountants and tax consultants
Maintain corporate records, insurance policies and compliance filings
Assist with investment tracking and reporting related to public entities, private equity, real estate etc.
Prepare investor reporting packages
REQUIREMENTS:
CPA designation
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting
Comfort/experience with multi-entity, multi-currency reporting, tax compliance and returns
Public practice experience beneficial (but not mandatory)
Candidates who have completed or currently enrolled in the CICA In-Depth tax course will be viewed favorably
Enjoy working independently and able to prioritise
Able to multi task and meet deadlines
Self-starter and very well organized
