Chief Accountant

Our client is a large well established Property Management Company located in the Lower Mainland. Due to impressive growth, a newly created position has arisen for a CPA to function as a Chief Accountant. Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.  You will ensure that the Company complies with  corporate policies and procedures, federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations and applicable statutes and acts as they relate to the property management industry. You will recommend, implement and control accounting policies and procedures and internal controls. You will supervise and manage all aspects of the client accounting operations from accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, administration of pooled trust funds, financial statements and budget preparation, taxation compliance and client reporting. You will perform complex financial analysis and reports for clients and properties as required and assist Property Managers in the preparation of their budgets. You will also work with the Property Managers in the understanding and interpretation of financial statements, budgeting, accounting procedures, etc.  You will also become involved in the Company’s management information systems including being involved in systems upgrades and improvements. Previous experience in the property management industry would be preferable.
