Director of Finance

Our client is a well established and respected service based business. This company has served the BC business community for many decades and is a proven leader in their areas of expertise. An excellent position has arisen for a motivated CPA to assume the position of Director of Finance. Our client is looking for a candidate that will assume the Director of Finance position for a period of two years and then be promoted into the CFO position (due to the CFO’s planned retirement). Only candidates capable of being promoted will be considered for this exciting position. The Director of Finance position will require that you be very hands-on and learn and work with the existing Controller. Our client’s business is such that this hands-on role will be very valuable in your overall learning process as their business is somewhat unique and specialized in the BC business community. Your duties would include, for example, the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting cost centre reports, assisting with budgeting, preparing monthly PST and GST returns (which are very complex and specific to their industry), working with the external auditors, liaising with operations personnel re financial issues, preparing other returns related to required regulatory requirements and, where required, assisting junior accounting staff in their duties. Your future promotion to the CFO role will involve you overseeing the various companies in their dynamic group and acting as the key financial resource to the Owners and executive team.
